Dr. Martin J. Davis, known affectionately as Marty to his friends and family, and known as Peeps to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully from natural causes on April 26, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on December 24, 1947, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Marty’s life was one marked by dedication, joy, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
Marty’s journey was as remarkable as the man himself. After graduating from Park College in Parkville Missouri, he proudly served his country as a cobra attack helicopter pilot in the Army, and as Chief Warrant Officer 2. He began his professional career in pharmaceutical sales then decided, in his thirties, to pursue a career in medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. His passion for healing led him to a fulfilling career as a family medicine doctor, where he became a pillar of his community, touching countless lives with his skill and compassion, caring for multi-generational families.
Marty was the loving husband of Wendy F. Davis, and together they raised a family that was the center of their world. His children, Kristen, Ashley, Adrienne, and Taylor, were the recipients of his boundless love and support.
Marty’s character can be best described in three words: loving, funny, and selfless. His ability to light up a room with a well-timed joke or offer a helping hand without a second thought was unparalleled. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and the countless lives he improved both as a doctor and as a human being.
Marty was an early and long time supporter of CLOVES Syndrome Community, after his daughter Kristen founded the organization in 2011. He attended almost every Family Conference, making connections, playing with kids and sharing his wisdom and wit with people living with CLOVES. He loved to introduce himself to the physicians and researchers at the Family Conference as “Riley’s grandpa” when he had questions for the medical panel.
Dr. Martin J. Davis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Especially his eight amazing grandchildren. His spirit, characterized by boundless love and an ever-present smile, will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. As we say goodbye to Marty, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that truly made a difference.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in support of CLOVES Syndrome Community.
