The Kristen Davis Momentum Grant

Kristen created CLOVES Syndrome Community in 2009, after her daughter Riley was one of the first to be diagnoses with CLOVES Syndrome. At that time, no organization existed to support people living with this rare disease. Now CLOVES Syndrome Community is the foremost non-profit patient advocacy goups for people with CLOVES, and it’s all thanks to Kristen!

While Kristen remains part of our community, she has passed the baton of leadership to a new Executive Director, but the momentum she created for this organization keeps going!

To honor Kristen’s commitment, the Board of Directors is pleased to introduce the Kristen Davis Momentum Grant!

What Is It?

The Kristen Davis Momentum Grant is an annual grant that will be awarded to one proposed project with the potential to create the greatest impact toward CSC’s mission: An improved quality of life for those affected by CLOVES Syndrome.

What To Expect

The grant website and application will open on August 3rd and close on 11:59PM, September 3rd. During that month, anyone with an idea for a project they believe could help improve the lives of those affected by CLOVES are invited to apply. After applications close, the Board of Directors, along with the Executive Director, will review applications and decide upon the winning proposal using a standardized scoring rubric. The award announcement will be made in early October.

What Is The Award?

This year, we have one (1) $1,000 USD award available.

What Kinds of Projects Are Suitable?

Projects that will be the best fit for this award are projects that

  • Take one year or less to complete
  • Can be measurably and positively impacted by a $1000 award
  • Have real potential of making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by CLOVES. Examples include:
    • Taking grant writing classes with the plan of donating 10 hours of grant writing to CSC each month.
    • Creating a new CSC brochure for schools and educators.
    • Taking a 3D printing class with the plan of learning to 3D print shoes and offering your services to our community at a reasonable price.

These are just examples. We can’t wait to see what you propose!

Final Details

The awardee will be expected to provide a mid-project and end-of-project update to the Board of Directors (in whatever format the awardee prefers.) Progress photos more regularly would be appreciated so we can share them on social media, as appropriate.

CSC will use photos and quotes from the awardee and grant application in digital (e.g. newsletter, social media) and analog (e.g. annual appeal letter) communication during the grant year, and after.
